Part of the problem with being where I am, Pointe Noire in the Republic of Congo, is that I very often miss some of the important news items or events. Not the big stuff, like the terrible start to the season Leeds are having, or that Stephen Fry has started endorsing Microsoft’s new Window Mobile operating system, or that a new series of the BBC Science Programme, The Infinite Monkey Cage will be starting again on the 15 November 2010, but sometimes, I miss the important stuff.

One thing that I did miss, and rather wish I had not was the 10:10 climate change video. At the time, the 10th October 2010, the people at the 10:10 group released a video, written by Richard Curtis. The intention was to re-affirm peoples commitment to a 10% reduction in carbon emissions in the next 12 months. This was something I picked up on the Intelligence Squared website, through their podcast link. The pod-casts are excellent but do, sadly, need Apple bloat-ware to download them.

….except, it has one flaw. It’s underlying message of ‘reduce now before it is too late’ was simply missing from the film, which is really a shame. Because if you like black humour, you really will enjoy this…..

There is also a fair old sprinkling of stardust – Peter Crouch and some of his south London football colleagues, Gillian Anderson, who seems to get sexier as she gets older, Radiohead, a five piece popular beat combo, David Ginola, a French footballer amongst others.
